Get the scoop: Summer 2026 UPDATES
The Chain Link
Grab your SPF, fill up those water bottles, and always check yourself for ticks! We hope you’ve had a great summer so far, and we can’t wait to keep riding with you!
A Note from the Board
In May, we hosted a 2-day Trail Care Workshop with partner organizations and some of our star maintenance volunteers. These participants are now leading smaller projects throughout our trail system. If you are looking to get out on the trails and do some work, keep an eye out for the next Maintenance Monday/Sunday to get looped in.

Committee Updates
Trails
Trail Master Plan
It’s final! We want to hear from our membership to help prioritize which recommendations we should work towards first. Check it out here, and let us know your thoughts here!
Vision Fund Bike Park
We’re moving along with final design and plans for construction. Don’t be surprised if you see some machinery moving dirt out there any day now!
Maintenance Mondays
There are still a few Maintenance Mondays & Sundays left this year! We will be spending most of the summer working at HLMP, with some side quests to our other favorite local trails as needed. We will continue to support HLMP, Skyline Wilderness Area, and Raider Park to help keep those trails running smooth!
Maintenance Mondays - August 24 @ 6pm
Maintenance Sundays - September 13 & October 4 @ 2pm
We have a lot more exciting things happening, plan to join us at a Trail Committee meeting or Bev’s with the Board to hear more about other initiatives like our Adopt-a-Trail Program, All American Trail Expansion and more!
Youth
As the summer continues to fly by, we are continuing with our youth rides! Meeting every other Thursday at 5:30pm. Reach out to Abbie if you have any questions.
For more info on youth rides, contact abbie@blackhillsbikehub.org.

Advocacy
Have you ever wondered why your favorite backcountry trails lack modern road access? That’s not by accident, but rather by design. The Roadless Rule was established in 2001 to limit large-scale logging in sensitive areas. Today, the Roadless Rule is under threat. It currently protects over 10,000 miles of mountain biking trails. Although only a small section of the Centennial (Bull Dog) is the only trail affected in the Black Hills regions, your favorite trails mostly across the west could see new development if this rule is eliminated. Learn more about the Roadless Rule, what you can do to advocate for its continuance, and see a map of the areas it affects from the Outdoor Alliance Roadless Rule site.
